Problems running isql from a daemon

I have an SQL query that I'd like to run from my HTTP server. When I try to run isql from a CGI script the isql command finishes the query, then just sits there indefinitely ringing up cpu time. Run from the command line it works fine. I know the query is running because if I kill the isql process I see that data was delivered. Any ideas?
