I'm still wondering : Should I update stats on system tables in sysmaster database or only on system tables in data database. Can somone explain me if it has sense ? HI,
Update Statistics helps the optimizer to find the best possible route foryour queries.
It is of course advisable to run it periodically depending on the volatility
of the data in your tables.
The sysmaster is a special database that contains pseudo-tables that
represent memory structures for the post part.
The statistics are set up in a special way (clued in at creation time) so
that the optimizer doesn't change its path for the pseudo-tables in the
sysmaster database..
Running UPDATE STATISTICS on the sysmaster database won't do anything.
Hope that this helps.

Most of the table in sysmaster database are pseudotables, so update statistics does not help and update statistics high is often not permitted. On your local system tables in the databases, update statistics is implizit done when you simply call "update statistics". gerd "Support Inf...." <supinformix@dofi.fgov.be> schrieb am 21.06.05 08:29:56: > > > I'm still wondering : > Should I update stats on system tables in sysmaster database > or only on system tables in data database. > Can somone explain me if it has sense ? > > Yves Dieltiens > > -----Original Message----- > From: nobody@ace.iiug.org [mailto:nobody@ace.iiug.org] > Sent: 20 June 2005 17:13 > To: ids@iiug.org > Subject: Re: update statistics on system tables [5205] > > I always do ... at least once per week.
