PeopleSoft AND Informix Gain Nine New Enterprise Customers In Eight Weeks Informix-Based Client/Server Applications Delivered Ahead of Schedule MENLO PARK, Calif., (February 28, 1995) -- PeopleSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ:PSFT) and Informix Software, Inc., (NASDAQ:IFMX), today announced that only eight weeks after commercial shipments began, nine major customers have already purchased PeopleSoft's leading financial, distribution and human resource management software running on INFORMIX(R)-OnLine Dynamic Server(TM). New customers such as Domino's Pizza, Glen Raven Mills, Prime Succession and Olin Corporation, among others, reflect the market's enthusiasm for the offering, which takes advantage of PeopleSoft's robust functionality and multitier architecture, as well as Informix's industry-leading parallel, scalable database architecture. The PeopleSoft/Informix ports, the last of which was completed two months ahead of schedule, had already generated more than $3 million in licensing activity to nine customers as of December 31, 1994. "Our ability to deliver this technology quickly and easily is reflected in the surge of new Informix/PeopleSoft customers who want the rich functionality of PeopleSoft applications running on one of the most powerful parallel database servers available," said Dave Duffield, president and founder of PeopleSoft. "In addition, the demand for Informix in the UNIX(R) market worldwide will allow us to greatly expand our base of global customers running enterprise systems." "Global organizations require not only power and rich functionality, but core technologies that scale easily and quickly enough to support mission-critical applications," said Phil White, chairman and CEO of Informix Software. "PeopleSoft's rapid success with OnLine Dynamic Server is a testament to the essential role that Informix and PeopleSoft can play in supporting the growth of a global enterprise." Under a joint development agreement, PeopleSoft and Informix developers have ported PeopleSoft Financials, PeopleSoft Distribution, and PeopleSoft HRMS, complete suites of client/server applications, as well as PeopleTools(R), an integrated application development tool kit, to Informix's industry leading parallel processing database server--OnLine Dynamic Server. Development of the ports progressed more quickly than expected due to Informix's strict adherence to industry SQL standards, the ability of OnLine Dynamic server to efficiently process PeopleSoft's complex SQL statements, and the product's ease of use. PeopleSoft Financials 3 and PeopleSoft Distribution, which were slated for an end of Q4, 1994 release, were delivered on time. PeopleSoft HRMS for Informix, which was slated for release at the end of Q1 1995, was delivered ahead of schedule and shipped in tandem with PeopleSoft Financials and PeopleSoft Distribution. "Because of OnLine Dynamic Server's general stability, we didn't run into a lot of problems," said Wes Clark, PeopleSoft's manager of Database Environments. "Our original assumptions about OnLine -- that it was efficient and supported all of our product features -- held true because of Informix's commitment to standards." Olin Corporation Chooses PeopleSoft/Informix Solution Olin Corporation, a $2.5 billion diversified corporation in the chemicals, metals, sporting ammunition, aerospace and defense industries, is currently implementing PeopleSoft's family of human resources management applications, including PeopleSoft Human Resources, Benefits Administration and Payroll, running on OnLine Dynamic Server to track 15,000 current employees and an additional 25,000 retirees in 40 locations. "Olin was the first to install the new PeopleSoft/Informix solution and we couldn't be more pleased," said Ross Ahntholz, CIO of Olin. "Our first choice for HR software was delivered successfully on our first choice of database platform. The PeopleSoft/Informix solution addresses our need to track a great deal of complex information across a diverse enterprise environment that requires both high-performance and scalability."
