What key codes does the ansi termcap in $INFORMIXDIR/termcap say are sent to the program? Why are they different? > How to overcome this problem? Fix the termcap entry so they are the same! You need to be looking at termcap entries k2..k9 (because Informix thinks that F1 is described by k0, F2 is described by k1, and F10 is described by k9, whereas everybody else who uses termcap thinks that F1 is described by k1, F2 is described by k2, and F10 is described by k0). If your termcap is similar to mine, then there are no function keys described in the ansi terminal description. Try looking at the scoansi termcap entry; that has descriptions for F1..F36.
