HPL Q : For Guru

Q : How can i use Pipe while doing unload through hpl. Informix IDS 7.30 on Sun/Solaris 2.5.1 Actually, my table is 22gb, i want to use pipe in order to compress it on fly b'coz of not enough disk space. I did following. 1. Prepare job in hpl by using device pipe array i.e mknod /tmp/pipename1 p mknod /tmp/pipename2 p 2. Passing the project and job name to one script which start onpload job and do on fly compress like onpload -p <projectname> -j <jobname> -fu compress < /tmp/pipename1 > destination_directory When i execute the job it creates the pipe but it does not write to pipe i.e does not execute. When i check the job status in hpl, it say 'coneecting', trying to connect to onpload database but it does not. After timeout out factor it comes out.
