I would _gladly_ pay 5 grand for NewEra if it's as great as Informix makes it out to be. But the runtimes are killing me. By the way, when I mentioned the cost to my sales rep, her first response was "but you can recover that per-workstation cost because you can buy smaller PC's to be your workstations". Well, 1) I don't believe that, and 2) We don't buy workstations just for running databases; in fact, we already have P-60's with 16 MB RAM because our users need that power for other applications. (And don't say "if you can afford those machines you can afford per-seat database applications" because it's all about comparative costs, not absolute.) (Also, I'm sure my sales rep has dozens of other and better reasons to justify the cost over other solutions, but this was just the first one she said.) Even if the NewEra runtime is free (which it isn't), don't I still need I-Net at each client workstation? Also, doesn't the cost of ODBC drivers and I-Net for each client make using Informix as the back-end cost prohibitive as well (for average Joes like me who have, say, 30 users and not infinite pockets)? rodney
