Using HP Omniback, SCH Reel, or other products to backup Unix files or Informix databases? How easy is the installation process? How good is the vendor's product maintenance(ie. current with most current Informix Online DSA? How good is the vendor's technical support? Are the product's functions/features and performance average, better than average, below average? Please describe your configuration - tape hardware, database size, type of backups run, elapsed time and resource utilization to run backup, interface with onbar, simplicity/complexity in using the product, ... Is the product used for other backup requirements besides Informix? i.e. other rdbms? other platforms? Does the vendor product provide write protection to the Informix backups from other programs (even from ontape, onarchive, onbar) inadvertently trying to write over them? Do you have some other method to protect tapes from being overwritten before they expire? Did you evaluate other backup vendor products? Which ones? Primary reason(s) not selected.
