Problem With Exists in 7.3
Posted in 1998
Hi !
You thought that Informix has no bugs ? Or anything that works on
previous versions
works on upgraded version ? Keep thinking until You'll face the problems
! ;)
We had 7.3 on NT:
create temp table a (a_id integer) with no log;
create temp table b (b_id integer) with no log;
Insert into a select ........ (many rows)
insert into a select ROWID from a; -- (it has a lot of rows)
select * from b,a where a.ROWID=b.b_id; -- (returns a lot of rows)
And now the PROBLEM:
^^^^^^^^^^
select * from a
where exists (select * from b where a.ROWID=b.b_id);
And .... NOTHING RETURNS;
even more :
select * from a
where NOT exists (select * from b where a.ROWID=b.b_id);
And NOTHING RETURNS AGAIN;
------------
The code familiar to this is performed in body of function.
But when I'm tried to simulate situation in another session. Everything
works fine.
I had only one TEMPDBSPACE and buffered logs
on all databases.
The most funniest thing is that everything works great on 7.22 and 7.23.
Could some one point the problem ?
Sincerely, Alexander
