Hi all, I have following kind of problem with logical logs backup: When the current logical log is comming full, it does'nt make logical log backup and in online log of informix following message appear: -------------------------------------------------- 16:13:14 Logical Log 524 Complete, timestamp: 0x7a55bd9. 16:13:15 Process exited with return code 164: /bin/sh /bin/sh -c /usr/informix/etc/log_full.sh 2 23 "Logical Log 524 Complete, timestamp: 0x7a55bd9." "Logical Log 524 -------------------------------------------------- OS: AIX IDS: 9.40 Can anyone tell me, what does this return code 164 mean? Thanks for your answers Lempo
It means you have ALARMPROGRAM set to log_full.sh but do not have onbar setup
correctly so it is returning an error exit code which the script is returning
to IDS. The code is being misunderstood by the oninit process and reported.
If you want to back up each logical log as it fills using onbar you have to
configure a storage manager first. If you actually wanted to use ontape, you
have to use a different script. There are a few in the IIUG Software Repository
or you can use my executable ALARMPROGRAM eventalarm.c which is in the package
utils3_ak. Eventalarm takes care of backing up logs and emailing any number of
users when specified events occur.
