Hi everybody, I want to compile a 4gl program : the executable files were created, but during the compilation, I have some error messages. These the references of my products : IDS RDS LINUX (for a LINUX 2.2.5 GLIBC 2.1.1) 4GL LINUX (for a 2.0.34 GLIBC 2.0.7) I work on Red Hat 6 (2.2.5 GLIBC 2.1.1) Do you think that the problem can be caused by the GLIBC ? IS there any solution ? Can I put on my linux computer two versions of GLIBC ? Informix soll to me all of these versions of RDS and 4GL, and i don't think (I hope !) that the GLIBC is the problem. But we never know !!!!! Thank you !! Please, It's very urgent !! Here is a part of the message : B_PFGP.ec: In function `r_eti1': B_PFGP.ec:10216: warning: comparison between pointer and integer cc: -l4gl: linker input file unused since linking not done cc: -lnforms: linker input file unused since linking not done cc: -lfesql: linker input file unused since linking not done cc: -los: linker input file unused since linking not done cc: -lasf: linker input file unused since linking not done cc: /opt/informix/lib/tools/libasf.a: linker input file unused since linking not done cc: -los: linker input file unused since linking not done cc: -lasf: linker input file unused since linking not done cc: -lgen: linker input file unused since linking not done cc: -lcrypt: linker input file unused since linking not done cc: -lm: linker input file unused since linking not done cc: /opt/informix/lib/tools/libgls.a: linker input file unused since linking not done cc: /opt/informix/lib/tools/libglx.a: linker input file unused since linking not done
The "since linking not done" messages are spurious. There is a bug in some versions of the esql driver script that passes libraries to the C compiler even if the '-c' option is give. Gcc reacts to that with these messages. I guess the c4gl script has the same problem. They are harmless or you can modify the script to not pass libraries if -c is specified, I've done that. Anyway the next upgrade should fix that (SDK 2.20's esql does not have the problem on my platforms anymore I assume they will fix c4gl as well). However, if the executables do not run you still MAY be hitting the new glibc incompatibility. The 4GL and ESQL libraries were compiled with glibc 2.0.5 which is incompatible with 2.1.1. There is a paper on what RPMs you have to install to have both sets of libraries and be able to compile safely in RH6. It is in the D4GL IDN Corner, follow the obvious link there. Art S. Hi all, First. I'm a newbie to informix on linux and I'd just like to say a huge thanks to Art, Jonathan and all the other peolple who spend so much time helping people like me. I'v only been lurking round this group for a couple of months, but I'm really impressed with the level of 'help' and the depth of knowledge. Thanks to yall. Now, on to prove my newbieness. Re the above message. How do you modify the esql/c4gl scripts to stop the spurious errors ?? just send the output to /dev/null ? Oh, and any info re an informix termcap entry for linux (RH Hedwig) would be usefull. My function keys seem to be confused under i4gl. Ta. Art S.
