Dude, to be in the top ten you have to perform TPC benchmarks. I think there was about 14 months when Informix didn't do any. If you think people choose a database based on TPC figures then our initial opinion of you must be correct. > Do not be > fooled Oracle takes a lot of time and analysis and tweaking to get into > a fine tuned state. A lot of tweaking?! TPC consider it cheating. So much so that they have had to change their benchmarks! > Informix on the other hand out of the box runs > fairly well just out of the box. Certainly not a multi-threaded variety engine anyway. > The only other thing would be the > backups as far as disaster recovery there both about the same. This did not go over well at the > Informix Users Conference. So Informix looks after it's data integrity better than others. That's tough on a poor dumb programmer who updates the wrong table, isn't it? > Personally if I could get my current > management to make the change from Informix to Oracle I would be > ecstatic. You would be in shit more like. But keep it up Dude. Oracle needs supporters for their database products. As an application vendor, it's nice for them to have a side-line.
