Re: Logical log could not be freed !

Since 7.11 the logical log is not marked as free until it is about to be re-used. This change was necessary to allow HDR and ER to function. Basically the only difference between the Free state and Used/Backed-Up is that the Free state does not have the unique id in the log descriptor tables. The reason that you got the "could not free log file" was because you had an active transaction whose start of transaction was in that log. You might want to look at lowering the log high water marks and increase the number of log files. Madison Pruet
