Helen, ' I got the same error when I tried to install IDS 9.40UC2 on RH 10 Beta (ie.'severn'). Why it has to require i686 but not just i386 compatible like in the past ? A lot of our customers still running i586 and this will cause a lot of upgrading problems as customers now have to plan to spend extra bugs to get a new server. Hi Thanh There is a source code difference between the i386 and i686 implementation of the libpthread. The IDS technology need the i686 version, this is not only a compiling choice! Thanks Sandor thanhma@attbi.com (Thanh) wrote in message news:<d7eee9f6.0307271852.5924994d@posting.google.com>... > Helen, > ' > I got the same error when I tried to install IDS 9.40UC2 on RH 10 Beta > (ie.'severn'). > Why it has to require i686 but not just i386 compatible like in the > past ? My best guess is that there is some overhead in this release and so by requiring i686, the performance can be made up somehow. Regardless, if this is an obsolete requirement then the check for the x86 should be done much, much earlier in the installation process.
