Anyone out there got any strong views either way? My own view is that creating the dbs in the rootdbs is a bad idea since this then becomes the default location for all tables created for the database, and can lead to the rootdbs becoming clogged.... For the same reason I would generally frown on creating tables in this space deliberately. Does anyone know if there are any performance benefits from doing it one way or the other? You will have performance benefits if you create your data base in a = separate area, because in the rootdbspace are created the temporal = tables, sort area tables, user view and all the stuff, so it competes = with you in gettint other tables/records from the database because they = are in the same area, and some time in the future, as your tables grow = they are going to compete for the space.
