limitations on string-spec used in PREPARE

When PREPAREing a statement (specifically, a SELECT statement) using a CHAR variable as the string specification, is there any limitation on how long the string can be? CHAR variables are limited to 32,768 characters (at least in my version), so can you PREPARE a 30,000 character SELECT statement? (I don't really need a 30,000 character statement, but a couple thousand would be nice.) Any other limitations in the complexity of the statement? . | . . . . . . . . . 1 . . . . . . . . . 2 . . . . . . . . . 3 . . . . . . .
