Reader Utility....

Hi, I am looking for information regarding the utility called "reader". We are in the process of a migration from Informix 5.x to 7.x (also migrating to a new hardware platform). We are basically doing a complete redesign. Our hardware consists of a Sun Enterprise 4000 utilizing MultiPack storage capability and volume manager. We are currently trying to decide the "optimum" disk layout. We read that "reader is a scientific method for optimizing disk layout". We are curious regarding anyone's knowledge/experience regarding this utility and the accuracy of it's results when all disk access will be going through a volume manager. Thanks.
