Wrong Keith. Ontape ONLY works correctly with REWIND devices, though of all
of the ontape modes the -c mode is the only one that will actually do what
it's supposed to do if you do give it a norewind device. Ontape -c works
just fine with disk files, you just have to manually rename the file and
touch a new one when it fills the file and prompts for a new 'tape'.
Personally I prefer using the ALARMPROGRAM to run ontape -a when a log fills
and archive that to disk. I've posted our methods many times so ... and my
eventalarm.c program supports this kind of logical log archiving.
