I don't know about INFORMIX-SE, but with INFORMIX-Online a database administrator would do this using the 'tbmode' command with a '-z <pid>' option. The command 'tbmode -z <pid> has the affect of killing an Online database server process associated with the process identification number <pid>. Another related command is 'tbmode -Z <address>'. This command has the affect of killing an Online transaction associated with the shared-memory address <address>. The address is available from the Transaction section of 'tbstat -u' output. > > (2) Is there a definitive set of steps in how this should be > done? If so, what are those steps? Someone at INFORMIX should be able to answer this. Call them at 1-800-274-8184.
