If, as the subject line suggests, you are using DB2, you'll likely get a better answer in a DB2 forum. Best guess is that either EMP_ID isn't a numeric field or that the 1234 you saw in the query returning every row has spaces or something in it so that '1234' <> '1234 '. --EEM > _______________________________________________
