Re: Synonyms to an SE database

I'm not surprised we got misled. I just looked in the 7.3 Syntax Guide for CREATE SYNONYM then followed the link to "Database Object Name" and I can't see anything to suggest that remote synonyms are IDS-specific. It's the same in the 9.4 manual too. Unless I'm missing something ... Andy "Mark D. The only thing you're missing is (I think) that all the information in the 7.3 guide is only for IDS - there is no SE 7.3 version for it to apply to. I suspect you'd find no SE-only or not-SE marks anywhere in the syntax. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2003.04 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
You are right, it is in fact clearly marked in the 7.2 version that the remote stuff is only supported in "OL" (sic). Personally I think it's pretty lame and unhelpful to carve the manuals up like this. Some means of making it more inclusive would have been far more useful - and probably would have avoided this thread!
