Select for update in SPL

I am trying to put a promotable lock on a table record within stored procedure. I was about to use "select for update" to do that but it looks like informix spl does not allow to do that. Any suggestions? (Informix IDS 7.31) Thanks in advance.

Hi, You set lock mode of that table in row level. Use cursor to select the rows and then use it to update. Then automatically it will be locked in exclusive mode. But, here until unless you commit, the entire active set will be locked. So, you can put the updated statement within the transaction. With Regards,
