In the Access Manual (somewhere) we found that a unique index is required by Access in order for it to allow insert/delete/update activity against the external table. We created the unique index and this worked, unfortunately we now have problems with ODBC or EDA which is failing the insert/update/delete. Access reports this as an ODBC error, and examination of the Informix Logical Logs shows that the update is being logged, but then a ROLLBACK is issued. At the moment we do not know if MS-Access, ODBC or EDA is rolling the transaction back. Hope this helps, -- Rick Ward Senior DBA Great Universal Stores Home Shopping MANCHESTER, UK
