SE Table tuning

Hi All, I used to be in Informix Dynamic Server. Now back to Informix SE and I am required to resolve our system performance. The users complain about the system being so slow when big jobs executed concurrently. Informix SE is primitive with tables on Unix directories and there is no utility (with my knowledge!) to check table fragmentation (update statistics run every night). Any quick hint would be highly appriciated.
