ontape "hangs"

Hello! I try to do a level 1 archive with ontape -c -L 1. DSA Engine is 7.20UC4X1. Unix is Dec-Unix 3.2G. But the archive tells me not, if finish or not. (...and no "% xx done"...) Level 0 works correctly. Is there anyone, who had the same problem on an Alpha-AS 2100 with 1 cpu and 1 GB Ram.? Thanks in advice.
