A successful way we have done something like this is to insert a row into a table with an insert trigger that calls a stored procedure that does a system call to run the 4GL program. The 4gl program can then either get command line parameters or fetch parameters from the table. > 2. how to get exit status from unix? How to get error message back to > PC?
