Once the root chunk is marked down, : you have to reinitialize and get out your archives. Or, if you are in an : old version of informix (4.1 or older, I think), you may set the mirror : flag to yes, to bring up the engine, if what you had was a write failure. : Its an odd trick, that is not available in the newer releases, but it works : when you are in real trouble. You may be able to get help through Informix Support. They have two programs called tbdump and tbpatch that allow them to mark a chunk up if it has been marked as down. If you're covered by support, they can (after getting appropriate legal releases) call into your system and probably fix it. I'm not sure if Naomi was indicating that since this is the ROOT chunk, it is beyond even tbpatch recovery.....I'm not sure about that. Call support. : As to the real problem, it looks like a permissions problem to me.
