It might be OK, but it hasn't been formally QA'd. It would be a good idea to get something newer, anyway, assuming you have maintenance; 4.10 has been out for awhile on Sun 4 / SunOS 4.1. There's also a recent 4.10.UC2 version that uses kernel locking instead of "create" locking, so you're not constrained to 64 simultaneous locks per process. (If you do upgrade to 4.10.UC2 or beyond, read the release note carefully about using the RESETLOCK environment variable to transparently convert the lock mode. It's entitled, "Conversion of Locking Methodology using the RESETLOCK variable." If you happen to use C-ISAM on the same files, upgrade C-ISAM to the same version. >Thanks for any information ... >-- >Harry Bochner >bochner@das.harvard.edu By the way, upward compatibility is NOT always safe to assume. For example, Turbo 1.10.03* ported to SunOS 4.0 will definitely NOT run properly on SunOS 4.1. -- Alan Denney aland@informix.com {pyramid|uunet}!infmx!aland I says, "Earl, this hill can spill us you better slow down or you're gonna kill us just make one mistake, and it's the Pearly Gates for them 85 crates of U.S.D.A.-approved cluckers.
