UDT for clob data

I am looking into the possibility of creating a UDT that is essentially a CLOB that compresses itself using a standard utility like zlib. Has anyone ever heard of something like this or have a good idea where I can start looking for info. The way I see it I need to create a UDT that acts like a CLOB but does a bit more. Thanks for any advise
