Powerbuilder and serial values
Posted in 1995
(Gee, I hope this only gets sent out once!) I have a customer using PowerBuilder (3.0B) to maintain an Informix table. The table has a serial column as its primary key. The question is, when new rows are inserted, by PowerBuilder, what is the best way to populate the data window rows with the generated serial values? As I see it, the possibilities are: 1. Reselect to populate the data window with the new rows. 2. Capture the new serial value after each row is inserted. Stick the value into the data window and reset the flags so that PowerBuilder doesn't think the row was actually modified. 3. Upgrade? Does anyone know the "best" way to handle this? --Craig (craig@chemistry.utah.edu)
