I sighed:

In article <3vkiv5$d31@hermes.is.co.za> Adam Langbridge
<(ddsiapl@sunny.oed.db.za)> kindly replied with some examples:
A simple example calling an SP needing two parameters and returning a
single value (in a single row).
DECLARE sp_Check_Items PROCEDURE FOR mra.move_valid_rec ( :ModelIDValue,
:FeedID ) USING ValidSQL;
EXECUTE sp_Check_Items ;
FETCH sp_Check_Items INTO :ErrorCode ;
CLOSE sp_Check_Items;
Thanks. We've gotten it to work now with parameters, but we have not been able
to call functions that do not return values. Can you do that?
Also, calling stored procedures from a custom transaction object by RPC calls
as described in the "Building Applications" manual does not work if a string is
passed as a parameter (Error -282 I think, misssing quote), or if the procedure
returns a value.
Using Dynamic SQL to call functions without return values gives Informix
error -685 (Procedure returns too few values).
Our local PowerSoft support people are looking at the problems.
Anyway, for now we can work around it by letting all SPs return values, but
it's ugly :-(
Thanks again for your reply,
Erland
