Hi,
the error "... oserr=24 ..." points to the OS error number 24.
You don't say, which OS your server is running on, but at least
on some systems this means "Too many open files.".
[ The "oserr" in this case is the UNIX "errno" which you can
lookup in /usr/include/errno.h (or some header file included
by this file). ]
If it has the same meaning on your system, then you probably
have to re-configure the appropriate kernel parameter to allow
for more (concurrently) open file descriptors.
The name of the kernel parameter in question varies from one
UNIX derivate to the other. You may have to ask your UNIX
System Admin ... :)
[ On many UNIX systems there are two kernel parameters that
restrict the number of concurrently open file descriptors, one
that specifies the maximum for a single process, one that
specifies the total maximum system wide.
In this case I suppose it's the per-process limit, since the number
is so low. ]
Beware that the IDS server needs open file descriptors not only
for communication endpoints (sockets), but also one for each
configured chunk file/device ("onstat -d"), and a couple of extra
descriptors for files like the message log, etc.
Regards,
Martin

Hi,
I am running IDS 9.3.UC4 on the Unix box, iDS server is working properly
based on stardard configuration paramaters, but the problem issued as the
amount of connections to the same database exceeded 60, my config
parametters at line NETTYPE in ONCONFIG file is set to "soctcp,1,70,CPU",
the error messages outputed on screen at server side as the following:
======================== error msgs=======
Listener-thread:err=-25574:oserr=24:errstr=: Network driver can not open
the network device
==========================
I also tried to change value connections per poll thread at line NETTYPE
to higher value, i.e: 100, then the problem is the same. Thus, what made
limited connections on my box ?, this error caused mainly by operating
system or IDS's limited licensing ?.
Any one know this ?, pls show me know how to correct it.
Bernard.
