Dear Will, >Is "Introduction to Object-Oriented Databases" any good? What level is >the book written for? I'm interested in learning more about about OODBs >but haven't really seen a good book on it. Can you give a quick review? >Thanx! >Will >(uunet!la4gen!villy) The author of this book is very well-known in this area(OODB) and he has done the research on the database area for several year from the relational database until OODB. I'm sorry that I'm only a beginner in this area; however, my feeling about this book is that this book is based on the author's project ORION, which is a good prototype model of OODBs since we haven't had a standard of OODB as yet. I think this book is very good book because it covers everything that we need to know beginning from the data model, schema modification, a proposed model of queries and a corresponding query language and so on. Also, this book is a bit hard to read since one who wants to read this book should have some basic background of a relational database for example. A book that I would like to recommend is the book by Hughes, John G. named "Object-oriented databases" from Prentice Hall, 1991. By the way, not so many books on this area have been published as I know. Finally, thank you very much for replying to me. Best regards, banchong P.S. I'm soory that I have already sent you a reply mail but this mail returned back to me since the address doesn't exist or something wrong. I therefore decide to post this mail into the news.
