Look into the use of synonyms. Depending on your sub-level, i.e. xx in
Informix version 5.xx, you may or may not have public synonyms. If public
synonyms are not available, then you can create a script with statements
like
CREATE SYNONYM alpha FOR barry.alpha;in it, and have each of your users run the script before doing anything
else.
