RE: Informix business grew by double digits in 2006 (Q1+Q2)

Quman- This has been my argument all along. Several years ago when HP's Carly Fiorina bought Compaq, I was stunned that instead, she didn't buy just Compaq's server division and Informix. That would have given HP additional market share in the server market, plus allowed them an instant heavy hitter entry into the enterprise database server market. It would also have allowed them to package Informix (demo or full license) with all of their servers, kind of like IBM does with DB2 and the AS400 line. --EEM -----Original Message----- From: Quman [mailto:yquman@gmail.com] Sent: Wednesday, August 09, 2006 4:01 PM To: eric@herber-consulting.de Cc: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: Informix business grew by double digits in 2006 (Q1+Q2) I have been working with data managenent for many years and Ionly involving with Informix for just 1-2 years , one world: just LOVE it! Its performance, reliability, simplicity,... tremendous features you can hardly find in this world elsewhere! I feel extremely confused , disappointed, sad,... about the treatment to Informix done by its Owner today! You know what? One of my friend wanted to look at Informix from IBM product list(WEB site) a couple days agao, NO Informix there! You can only go to DB2 link , No other choice! He called IBM "contact number", replied "sorry , we do not know..., you can search it .." ............... Informix was married to a WRONG husband! Divorce would be the only choice to get better life! I do not understand why SUN, HP... missed the opportunity, what a loss! I think it would have been much better if HP or EMC would have bought Informix. Unfortunately in 2001 those companies where not as much interested in software than today. I think that both companies would have done a much more professional marketing for Informix than IBM does today and they would perfom TPC benchmarks with IDS. Unfortunately we have no time machines yet and have to live with the situation. There have been a lot of promises regarding Informix Marketing from IBM in the last months and you know: hope dies last -:) _______________________________________________ Informix-list mailing list Informix-list@iiug.org http://www.iiug.org/mailman/listinfo/informix-list
