informix odbc driver problem

hi, i am trying to access Informix on an NT server from my NT workstation. using setnet32, i set the "no password" option. I am able to immediately connect to that database using a tool like SQL Editor without needing to supply a password. however, when i use the Informix/Intersolv's ODBC driver in conjunction with a tool like MS Query or with a VB app, i am challenged to authenticate with a username and password. why? shouldn't it connect me like before to the database w/o asking me for a password? please help. thanks in advance.
