It should work unless the logging modes are incompatible. If it is a version
thing between IDS7 and IDS8 you may be able to use my dbcopy.ec utility to do
the copy. Since it maintains separate connections to each server it is not
bothered by things like version and logging incompatibilities. As a bonus it
inserts data about 3x faster than insert into...select .. from.
WAIT JUST ONE COTTON PICKIN' CHICKEN FLICKIN MINUTE THERE!
If that is not a typo the syntax is backwards. Make it:
insert into ourtable
select * from yourdb@yourserver:ourtable;
My comments about dbcopy.ec's speed still hold if this is not a one-time thing.
