Problemas con los acentos
Posted in 2009
A Spanish-speaking user running IDS 11.50 reported that alphabetical listings sort incorrectly: accented words (e.g. Sánchez) always come after unaccented ones (Santos), with data entered via a Java application. He asked whether a function or procedure could fix it. Replies pointed him to a Portuguese-language article on Informix locale/GLS configuration as the likely cause, offered translation help, and suggested cross-posting to the IIUG Spanish forum. The poster then apologised for having used the wrong forum/language. No concrete fix or confirmed resolution is recorded in the thread.

Mr. Nunez, I´ll try to post you a Brazilian Portuguese link that explains everything about locale problems: http://www.imartins.com.br/informix/category/artigos/locale If you need some help and may understand english, that´s also fine to the forum ok? Santiago, if you haven't already, you should cross post this to the IIUG Spanish Language Forum, it is well attended and the people who frequent it will translate cleanly for you and repost here if they can't help. My Spanish is VERY weak, and I looked at a Google translation but it was too garbled to get a clear understanding of your problem. I believe you are saying: "I have a problem with IDS 11.50. [Something about removing alphabetic lists - then] Accented names are sorting incorrectly. Data is entered from a Java application. Does anyone know of a function or procedure that will help?" Anyone have any ideas for Santiago? Art S.
