using VIEWS

Folks, Are there any reasons, such as pig overhead, not to use views? They seem handy for generating forms and then, in 4gl,defining structure variables "like" the views. (I'm the one who employed the NOT EXISTS, because it seemed like a good idea; now I'm leery of everything.) We're running online 5.02 uc6, and this app will involve about 7 views, all on one table that has many columns. I plan on using the "view" structure variables for form data capture, and then moving the data from these fields to fields in a big "table" structure variable from which to do the insert/update. We plan on about 10-15 concurrent users doing around 500 transactions per day, at the most. Thanks for any tips. I will summarize any interesting responses.
