Informix Database - Backed up by ADSM

Help, I need to backup an Informix database, using Tivoli/IBM ADSM I am not sure how to do this - either by using a flat file while system is offline or some connect agent, which I can not find! Any help would be appreciated.. E-mail: Jonathan@wootton.freeserve.co.uk Regards Jonathan Wootton
If Tivoli/ADSM is xBSA compliant then Informix's OnBar archive utility can use it as a storage manager to archive the Informix engine while it is online and active. Contact IBM and see if you can get the xBSA shared library that OnBar needs to perform the interaction. Art S. There are release notes concerning this from IBM for ADSM
and from Informix for onbar. Connect the two together, and
voila you will be set. As Art suggested, contact your IBM
rep for the details. You have a small amount of set-up, but
you need the release notes to show you the way. The onbar
release notes are adequate for onbar, but you need also need
the IBM notes to complete the task. The xBSA library should
already be on your system, you need to extract one of the .o
files out of it and create a link but after that the rest
is easy.

You can use the XBSA Library of ADSM
Fileset Level State Description
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Path: /usr/lib/objrepos
adsm.api.client.aix42 3.1.20.6 COMMITTED ADSM Client - Application
Programming Interface
and the onbar utility from Informix.
Works fine for us.

Correct. You have to do a flat file backup - such as an offline export, or
backing up (shudder) the NT container files. XBSA doesn't work on NT with ADSM
-- we've been down that route.
