Opinion on RDS

Hi Dave. If have a different opinion on the use of RDS. To my opinion the mentioned performance figures may be true if where are no constraints on the machine it is running. However if you are talking about on OLTP environment with a limited main memory, more users can be supported running RDS compared to the compiled version. This is because the executabels of RDS are smaller than that of the C versions, sometimes as less as 25 % !!!. These executable and the runner are shared between users. So the moment that the system will start swapping will be postponed (or never happen), increasing the overal troughput.
