Appreciate your time. I'm cross posting this to comp.databases.informix for you, it is a better source for Informix questions as only a few of us CDI denizens also lurk here on CD. I suspect that ESQL/C is faster than CLI/ODBC. Also I do not think that CLI has access to advanced ESQL/C features such as FETCH BUFFER sizing and the FETCH ARRAY feature which are important to maximize performance. These 7.xx features are finally documented in the release notes for 7.30 (see the Informix WEB site if you have an earlier 7 rel). Art S. Kagel
