Informix on AIX (newbie).

Hi goup, I need to start administering an Informix database that runs on an AIX server. I've no problem using unix systems (specially linux) but I don't know how to star interacting with the database. I've got some good manuals about Informix, but I'm a little confuse with the way I can interact with it. Is it something like MySql on Linux (mysql -u username -p) ? For example, how can I see all the databases and tables of the system? Any help would be appreciated. Regards, Nuno Paquete
The main command line tools are:
dbaccess (SQL queries)
onmonitor (configuration)
onstat (information)
These are all described under Database Servers at:
www.ibm.com/software/data/informix/pubs/library
However, I recommend using an ODBC or JDBC graphical interface,
the best of which is at:
www.serverstudio.com

Hi,
Thank you for the answer.
Can you give me an example about the commands you gave me?
Lets suppose that I'm at the command line and I need to see all the
databases of the server...
Can you give the entire command?
Thanks in advance.

Note that there are also a ton of useful tools in the IIUG Software
Repository on the IIUG web site (www.iiug.org and select 'software').
Including tools like my listdb tool (in the package utils2_ak which contains
several other DBA level tools as well. In addition to the IBM tools already
mentioned look at:
dbschema - print the DDL schema of a table or entire database
dbexport - export a database to ascii files or tape
dbimport - import the output of a dbexport run
onunload - export a table or entire database to to binary page image files
or tape
onlog - view logical log records
dbload - load data from several formats into database table(s)
finderr - translate SQL and ISAM error codes into text
ipload/onpload - High speed data loader/unloader
onparams - manage manage logical and physical logs
onspaces - manage server chunks
onperf - configurable server performance monitor
xtree - graphical query watcher
