KAIO benefit

I've been thinking of turning on the KAIO on our HP 11.0. But I just want to ask what is really the benefit I would get if I do this? The release notes just say its good for raw partitions, and other performance guides tell its good. But I want to have some data to observe before and after activations. What metrics do I observe on onperf to see the differences? And if someone can explain me why it makes the performance better (or an article, link or any other that explain)?
