I think it is covered in the FAQ (http://www.iiug.org). I also posted a program, SQLCMD, a month or so ago which contains code to deal with DATETIME and INTERVAL (and DECIMAL) decoding. Most of the info you need is cryptically available in datetime.h. You could also check the rtypname() function, but I don't think it gives the qualifiers which are the interesting part. If you really can't get at the archives, I can send you the sqltype.ec file which is part of SQLCMD.
