I-Net over a slip or PPP line

I have a client/server app that uses Informix Net over a TCP/IP network. And I would love to use this application remotely. Does anyone have any experience with trying to get Informix Net to run through a slip or PPP connection, or is this for some reason not possible? I thought it might be because when connected over a slip line, to the server I would look just like another PC on the network. I did give it a try but disappointingly got the old -932 error...
