JDBC and IUS ?

Hello, i want to implement a JAVA-application that has to connect to Informix-Universal-Server. Now i have some questions to this topic: 1) is the JDBC already available ? 2) if not 1), is there an alternative to connect to the IUS via JAVA ? 3) Which JAVA-Development-Environment should be used. I have read something that Symantec-Cafe is supported in a special way ? If anybody knows somethinh about this, it would be very kind if she/he gave me some information/hints.
