That said, I wonder why you choose this particular conclusion. By your logic, the fact that we do not give away Unix DB servers must reflect our lack of confidence in our Unix products. Somehow I don't think that is quite it... Again, I am not in marketing so am ignorant of these things, but do you suppose it is possible that they want to charge for some of the products? Isn't UDO an extra cost item on the other platforms as well? Or perhaps you feel a duty to uphold the truth of the aphorism "no good deed ever goes unpunished". Of course since I work here, I may be oversensitive, but isn't it slightly unfair to dismiss what seems like a fairly positive initiative on NT with the conclusion that "since they aren't giving it away it must not be any good"? Please note, I am not disagreeing or agreeing with the proposition that giving UDO to developers would be a good idea. Personally I think all software should be free. Did I mention that I am an engineer, not in marketing? -dg David Gould dg@illustra.com 510.628.3783 or 510.305.9468 Informix Software 300 Lakeside Drive Oakland, CA 94612 - A child of five could understand this!
