back up following onmode -F writes core file

Hi all,
We are using IDS 9.40 in HP-UX 11.1.We are taking level 0 backup and level 1
back up every day using ontape to disk (not to the tape device),after
completion of back ups we are executing onmode -F command.
But after completion of Level 0 and Level 1 backups it generates a core file
every time.
What could be the reason for this? If any one has any answer ,you can help us.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks & regards,
Bala.

Hi,
I am not sure about the version where this happened, but I remember a
bug in a 9.x version where onmode -F lead to a crash.
You should check the release-notes of the newer releases about that.
Please give us the correct version (with sub version xC..), then we
might find out that for you. I assume you have a 64bit release (on HP UX
you should have ...) ?
Anyway, onmode -F did not work for us any time, because it only frees
segments in memory which are absolutely empty.
We decided to have an initial segment which is big enough to be rarely
exceeded (for us, e.g. 800 MB are OK).
But of course, this depends on your environment. Have you ever freed up
segments in the past using this command ?
Marcus

Hi marcus,
Thanks for your response. We are using 9.40.FC5 version .I checked in the
release notes also ,no place mentioned as a bug for running onmode -F.
IDS is running on HP-UX 11.11 64 bit.
Is there any other solution to avoid the core file?
Thanks & regards,
Bala.
