Hi, The fetaure that I missed most in Informix is, oracle's way of optimizing the queries. In oracle, you have a choice of Rule based or Cost based optimizor. Also you can instruct the optimizer to behave in a particular way by using Hints. If you are concerned with whole throughput or just for best response time, you also have a way of configuring the oracle for that. The feature that I like of Informix is automatic fragmentation of tables and Indexes either on round robin fashion or based on expression. This basically free the DBA's from repetable time consuming job of extents looking, exporting and importing of a table as in ORACLE. I think that's the good idea of comparing these RDBMS head to head which will server the purpose of enlighting the user community aswell as the made think to those DBS vendors to incorporate the missing features.
