tbtape problem

Fellow Informixers: I've got a wierd problem with tbtape. It keeps terminating with: Error writing to tape device, Error No. 22. But it happens on different tape drives! We've even replaced an existing 8mm unit, bought new tapes, and it still happens. We've got a (poor, slow) workaround using tbunload, but I'd like to find out why tbtape decided not to work about a week ago. Any clues?
